How much should a one year old child eat, and what is the best meal plan for this age? Variety and choices?

I am a Nanny of two one year olds, and I feel like I feed them the same things every other day! Does anyone have any suggestions for a typical meal plan for an active one year old child?
How much should a one year old child eat, and what is the best meal plan for this age? Variety and choices?
I feed mine cheese cut from blocks of Cheddar, Colby, and Monterray Jack

Fruit of all kinds cut up in small pieces.

Cottage Cheese

Eggs

tiny cut up pieces of chicken, fish, and ham

Steamed veggies of all kinds

Humus off a spoon

Torn up pancakes and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches

cut up raviolis

cut up pasta

yogurt of all kinds

rice

Basically anything that isn't too hard, not too much salt or sugar, and I try to stay away from prepared foods. I create most of her meals generally from scratch.

On occasion I'll resort to Spag-O's or Chicken and Rice from a can.
Reply:my LO is only 8 months old and I feel the same. I got a free frdige magnet from Cow and Gate and it enables me to tick off the balance between dairy, poultry, fish, red meat, mil, fruit etc. You could make one up as a tracker. I teneded to give Josh what he liked but it is important that they have a real mixture. I do cod dishes, pork, chicken, noodles, vegetarian type meals too. If you plan a week ahead it is far easier. Last minute always left me to struggle. My freezer is jam packed. You could work around what you eat as your LO is older than mine. Good luck.
Reply:good answers above...to answer your other question, toddlers stomachs are about the size of their fist, so they really don't eat much.
Reply:I have a one year old myself, and I worried for awhile if I was feeding him right. I use a lot of the Gerber Graduates food. They are healthy and baby-friendly. I haven't found anything from them that my son doesn't like. I also signed up for coupons from Gerber and they recently sent me a little brochure. It had a lot of helpful tips in it. I went to the site listed in the brochure and they even have menus and other helpful information on the site. I now go there for a lot of my questions about my baby. I put the links below. I hope you find them as helpful as I did!!
Reply:You know really, it doesnt matter that much about having the perfect meal plans because if you spend all the time and money on it, they will most likly not like the things you give them.. kids that age are generaly picky..

My daughter just turned two but she used to eat fish sticks and healthy chicken nuggets or borritos or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.. and lots and lots of veggies and fruits. those are pretty easy foods.. also if they dont like things you give them (like the fish sticks) try putting a few drops of ketchup on each bite and they will be sure to eat them then!! Good luck!!
