One of my neighbour's friend has a grayden for the security reason i have decided to adopt a one year puppy, as per his talk, we got to know some information about the puppy that he is very friend with the family members, aggresive watch and guard dog, easy maintanance and so on.
please suggest me is it safe for adoption in a year old puppy ?
I plan to adopt a one year grayden puppy can some one tell how will he behave with us? ?
Yes, it's safe.
Reply:A great dane shouldn't be an aggressive guard dog, so I would doubt that this is a well bred dog.
Great Danes also have multiple health problems and not very long life spans. If your neighbour isn't breeding for a proper temperment it's doubtful that he's checked the parents for genetic health issues. They aren't low maintenance dogs, eat TONS and require good vetrinary care... they can be really expensive dogs to own.
We have one Great Dane, he's 147 pounds and if he were aggressive with humans he would be unmanagable... he outweighs me by almost 20 pounds. Our last dane died at 5 years old after years of surgeries, speciallized allergy food, he had hip problems and went blind at 4.
It's not adoption if you are buying or getting the puppy from a breeder... it's still a breeder dog.
I would go to your local humane society, or rescue center and talk with them about what dog would be appropriate for you and your family.
Reply:What is a "grayden" puppy?
Edit: No,I would not adopt an aggressive Great Dane.It could kill someone quite easily.Danes are not naturally aggressive dogs,so I would steer clear of it.
Reply:Could you please tell me what is a grayden? In all my years in dogs, I've never heard of this.
Reply:I have no clue what a Grayden is..never heard of it..
Reply:1 year old dog is no longer considerate a puppy, its consider an adult. Depends if your adopting from a shelter, pound or rescue-yes it classed as adoption-you can guarantee it has a sound temperment, if your buying from a neighbour its classed as buying, and temperment can be unpredictable especial one from aggressive parents. The fact is a shelter wouldn't rehomed a dog that is known aggressive. They are euthanised. There are too many legal consiquences
What is grayen anyway? Ah its a great dane, i was wondering why i never heard of greyhen. Be very careful if your neighbour selling a dog that aggressive. It may not realise your it owner now and think your a stranger that is suppost to attack. A dog should never be trainned to attack.Great danes aren't suppost to be aggressive. They are suppost to be gentle giants that just look aggressive.Make me wonder why this dog being sold or given away for cheap.I ask more question if I was you, if it your neighbour's or your neighbours friend dog. Even if it your friend dogs or neighbour's friend dog, i would avoid it at all cost. A aggressive dogs is law suit waiting to happen. Why not save a life and adopt a loving no aggressive Great Dane from your local shelter.
Great Dane
Temperament: His sheer size makes this breed very intimidating, however this dog is very gentle and loving. They can do well around other dogs, but should be socialized to prevent them becoming dog aggressive. The Great Dane is a very playful and loyal breed.
However quite safe if its a shelter/pound/rescue.
