Planning my one year old's first birthday!?

I need some ideas! I have over 100 people (this is NOT my fault, we both have BIG Families, and of corse friends)....unfortunatly it has to be this big.

So I have to make the most of it.

Need unique ideas on themes, party ideas, entertainment, games, cake, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Planning my one year old's first birthday!?
maybe a kingdom theme. you could dress up as a queen, your daughter as a little princess, and your husband as a king. have a cake with cinderella on it or something or another princess. for the adults you could serve "royal" food like french bread and wine (or grape juice in wine glasses, lol) with steak or baked chicken, and the party favors could be for the little girl guests tiaras, and boys crowns, etc. you could even have a little fashion show.

or you could have a general disney them. have characters from a party service come as mickey and mini mouse, goofy, donald duck, pluto, winnie, or just one or twoof them etc. serve a cake with the disney characters on them, disney decorations, party favors could be little disney toys from the disney store, mickey mouse goofy plates, table cloths, cups, banners, etc.

or you could have a specific disney theme, like the theme of beauty and the beast, or cinderella, or snow white or pocahontas. have the decorations of that theme, and hire people from a party service to dress up as that and come there to entertain. or you could get the costumes yourself and dress up.

party city has great choices to choose from for party favors.
Reply:Don't worry I am in the same boat as you we had a 4th birthday party yesterday with 50 guests. Try to stay away from having a theme after all the child is only 1 and wouldn't really understand it anyway. Get as many family members to help you as possible even if they only bring a plate of food. (even if its only close family) make all the food the day before and leave things that have to be cooked until the day. Maybe you could hire someone to help in the kitchen. You could make orange jelly boats. That is where you cut oranges in half and scoop out all of the oranges and then fill the orange peel with jelly and leave them to set in cup cake tins. Then cut them in half once the jelly is set then put little ship sails in them. Make sure you don't use too much water so the jelly sets better.
Reply:100 people????? honey, the only advice i can give ya is to pray!!! good luck!
Reply:I hate to say it but your child is not going to want to be around that many people....be selective about who you invite....cut out the friends for one...invite both sets of grandparents, and immediate aunts, uncles and cousins. That's it. I doubt anyone would be offended if they weren't invited. Tell them if they wold like to stop by at a different time to wish your child a happy birthday they are more then welcome to. But a party of 100 will not be fun for your child, or for you.

As for ideas.....get her her own cake or cupcake to dig into and take lots of pictures of her doing this..Birthday gift BINGO where they guest and try and guess what she'll get..theme Fun to Be 1....I beleive you can do a yahoo search on that and find decorations for it.

Reply:As long as your child gets to eat her cake, she'll probably be happy. As long as the rest of the guests get something to eat, then they'll probably be happy. Though it is an option, you don't have to "go all out" for a one-year old's birthday. Sometimes it's better to keep things simple. That especially applies with little children.
Reply:we did a little fun quiz with 10 questions "how well do you know the birthday boy?" %26amp; had prizes for best %26amp; worst answers. we had made a little scrap book table for everyone to sign a little note for him. we took a large group picture. we had a huge jar of cheerios %26amp; gave prizes for best guess of how many were in there. you could also have the kids %26amp; adults play musical chairs with prizes. we also had a huge party. we did a nemo theme. it was fun. nemo cake of corse.
Reply:wow.. well first off might i suggest you ask it to be a potluck with you providing cake and drinks.. as for ideas and such.. maybe start with a colour theme, pick up napkins cups plates whatever and maybe you will see some decorations that take your fancy.. i got most things at the dollar store for my dd parties. umm and maybe make up some loot bags for the older kids and then depending on the ages of everyone work out who you need to keep busy etc.. people, especially family usually take care of themselves during a party with the exception of children who need things to do especially since you might not have any toys for them to play with. try to keep it simple and not too long as your baby will tire quickly from all the excitement.
Reply:check out birthdaydirect.com
Reply:ask everyone to bring a picture of them when they were one. have everyone vote on who has the cutest picture. do not let anyone vote for themself. give a prize to the winner.
Reply:Have you ever watched Jon %26amp; Kate Plus 8? They had a circus theme for the sextuplets 3rd birthday. My daughter will be a year old in January...and as exciting as that will be....SHE won't remember it, so I say try not to overspend this birthday since it will be such a huge party. Try to keep it simple. This birthday is mostly for family and friends to really celebrate. Just make sure your baby gets to dive into his/her own cake!

If you specify your baby's gender...I'll try to help more. Have fun and Happy Birthday, baby!

P.S. DUH..."Dakota's Mommy"...got to be a girl, right? How about a Princess theme? Buy a lot of pink and royalty looking stuff at a party store!
