You should try to save the original party ideas for when he is a little older. With your son only turning one he really does not even know what is going on.
My son is turning one year old on june 24th. i am trying to plan an original birthday for him... any ideas??
I agree with the person who said to save the more original ideas for later on birthdays, about 3 and up... for now, the first and even the second birthdays are more for the family to come together in celebration... a lakeside bbq with drinks, music, the family might be nice. Also, we did our one year old's at a local park that was very nice and there weren't really any other people there. We just did cupcakes, had drinks and just hung out...
Have a good time and definately takes LOTS of pictures! The first birthday is sooo special for the parents. :) We've had three seperate firsts and each has been so sweet.
Reply:Don't go all out...the 1st bday is really a milestone for the parent and the child really has no clue to whats going on except that more people are around fussing over him. When my daughter turned one, I just picked a cute theme(care bears) and got a cake with that theme(a lot of grocery stores will give you a small cake for a 1st bday for free...this is good for those pix of your child diving into lol)
I had her party at a local park and served pizza and snacks. Low key and fun.
Save the original ideas for future parties when the child knows whats going on.
Reply:Balloons, lots of balloons. Lots of bright colors, streamers, lots of streamers hanging from the ceiling. Scotch tape streamers to the ceiling fans if they have a really slow speed. Take pictures, lots of pictures.
For a one year old its bright colors and things that dangle, no need for anything else. He won't remember, and a dump truck parked out front will mean nothing to a one year old.
Reply:Theme it on his favorite activity.
Make sure you have good pics of him to enlarge, and keep near the gift table and serving table.
Be creative. Like, if his favorite toy is a dump truck, ask a contractor to park one at your house, if it's an outdoor party.
Don't bother with the regular disease-fest places like Chuck E Cheez, etc. They suck for kids this young.
Reply:Don't get a clown...even though he may be a little young for clowns I'll tell you anyways for future references. Many kids have lots of nightmares over them including me. Deffinitly get a video of him with a mini cake in his high chair. It's a classic.
Reply:Just keep it simple and keep the guest list limited. You don't want to over stimulate him. The most important thing (and cutest) is the cake. My son never really had cakes or cookies until then and I think the cake was the best present he could have gotten.
