Rarely, has this economy suffered so greatly with the exception of the Depression. According to the majority of economic research, the middle and lower classes never fully recovered from the 2001 recession. With stagnant wages and spiraling health care costs, the divide between the have's and have-not's has increased. It appears the economy was collapsing when the Supreme Court chose Bush in 2001. To compound the misery, the never-ending war in Iraq is costing a trillion--borrowed from other countries and to be paid for by generations to come. The real estate crisis that could have and should have been prevented. A fiscal recovery was only smoke and mirrors after all.
Has the economy collapsed one year earlier than Bush planned?
So the economy was collapsing during the Clinton Administration. And now people want Hillary to become President. Report Abuse
Reply:the irony of it is that less than a month ago, we were all hearing how rosey the economy was. Now a few weeks later , all we hear is about a recession and a stimulus package. How does that possibly happen??????
Reply:lulz
you are ruthless. hahahahaha
This is one of those "sir have you stopped beating your wife" questions
it's a no win. lol.
Reply:I forecast this months ago and was called a fool. So much for experts.
Reply:The government has been collapsing ever since he entered office in 2001. We should have known better when he was reading a book upside down during one of the greatest tragedies in American History. We should have remembered how exusted the nation was after his father was out of office, that Clinton had to repair the damage, and get the country back on it feet, but then we elected another BUSH DESTROYER!
Now "Bush JR." is going to make sure the government never gets out of debt with this new economic plan. The worst part is that all of these people that voted for this plan are smiling on camera because they know how much this will screw the deficit for the rest of time. But they;re all rich, WTF do they have to worry about.
Bush has given us nothing but damage to the American name, brought us to War, just like his dad. Killed thousands of our Sons %26amp; Daughters, and we let him. Helped his former CEO buddies reach record sales margins with oil and gas profits, etc...... to name a few!
I liked Clinton, all he did wrong was screw a few fat chicks! But what he really did that people don't realize is that he got the American government out of debt, and we were ready to hang him up to dry for screwing a few fat chicks and lying about it.
Bush has destroyed our government, economy, and hope of a full recovery within one presidential term. One black man or woman cannot repair all of the damage that retard has done. IT WILL TAKE several years and many presidents to do such a great task as repairing what the Ignorant man has done to this Great Nation.
We should have hung him like they did Saddam!
Reply:You think Bush planed this?
You give him too much credit.
Reply:His Ownership society....yes. cheap home loans for the struggling families was His announced policy, then 4 years later it blows up. as always they will bail out the bankers and screw the people.
from the white house web site.......
President Bush's Policies Promoting the Ownership Society
飩?More Access and More Choices in Health Care. The President's goal is to ensure that Americans can choose and afford private health care coverage that best fits their individual needs. The U.S. health care system can provide the best care in the world, but rising costs and loss of control to government and health plan bureaucrats threaten to keep patients from getting state-of-the-art care. The President's agenda includes:
飩?Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), which combine low-cost, high-deductible health insurance with tax-free savings accounts to pay for health care expenses. The President has also proposed to make insurance premiums associated with HSAs tax deductible.
飩?Association Health Plans (AHPs) to give America's working families greater access to affordable health insurance. By allowing small businesses to band together and negotiate on behalf of their employees and their families, AHPs would help small businesses and employees obtain health insurance at an affordable price, much like large employers and unions.
飩?em%26gt;Strengthening Medicare. President Bush signed legislation in 2003 to establish a prescription drug benefit under Medicare. Under this plan, private health plans will compete for seniors' business by providing better coverage at affordable prices--helping to control the costs of Medicare by using market-place competition, not government price-setting. And seniors will be able to choose the health care plan that best fits their needs--instead of having that choice made by the government.
飩?Expanding Homeownership. The President believes that homeownership is the cornerstone of America's vibrant communities and benefits individual families by building stability and long-term financial security. In June 2002, President Bush issued America's Homeownership Challenge to the real estate and mortgage finance industries to encourage them to join the effort to close the gap that exists between the homeownership rates of minorities and non-minorities. The President also announced the goal of increasing the number of minority homeowners by at least 5.5 million families before the end of the decade. Under his leadership, the overall U.S. homeownership rate in the second quarter of 2004 was at an all time high of 69.2 percent. Minority homeownership set a new record of 51 percent in the second quarter, up 0.2 percentage point from the first quarter and up 2.1 percentage points from a year ago. President Bush's initiative to dismantle the barriers to homeownership includes:
飩?American Dream Downpayment Initiative, which provides down payment assistance to approximately 40,000 low-income families;
飩?Affordable Housing. The President has proposed the Single-Family Affordable Housing Tax Credit, which would increase the supply of affordable homes;
飩?Helping Families Help Themselves. The President has proposed increasing support for the Self-Help Homeownership Opportunities Program; and
飩?Simplifying Homebuying and Increasing Education. The President and HUD want to empower homebuyers by simplifying the home buying process so consumers can better understand and benefit from cost savings. The President also wants to expand financial education efforts so that families can understand what they need to do to become homeowners.
Now tell me again, he had no hand in it. all rhetoric but no specifics typical Bush policy, where was the financial education .......in the fine print.
Reply:Bush is not a man who considers the consequences of any of his decisions. Think about his announcement a few years ago about a manned US mission to Mars.
Could you think of any other program that would cost the country so much and produce so little?
Reply:The economy collapsed in 2001 and has never recovered. What we're seeing now isn't "again," it's "still." For the bottom 99 percent of earners, the recession Bush's crazy harebrained tax scheme caused has never ended. It's just picked up a little speed.
Reply:LOL, looks that way, doesn't it?
Reply:The economy collapsed the day he took office. Like most Republicans, he's a walking disaster.
cadisney- you call this a "very strong economy"? What planet are you on? Maybe if you're a billionaire the economy is great. Here down in the real world where the majority lives though, it's tough times. Also, in fact, the housing disaster has everything to do with the president. His feed the rich, starve the poor economy has costed people their jobs, and hence their homes.
lost_sou- where do we come from? We're called the middle class..you know, the ones who, god forbid, want to unionize our labor, and ask for decent wages and a safe working environment against what your multi-billion dollar corporation wants? You know, a Republican's worst nightmare.
Reply:Where do you people come from?
Reply:He thought he'd have a smooth exit, I guess. But any smart person knew all along he was living on a house of cards.
Reply:Now thats funny!! Maybe if Bush is an Evil Genius, but I think he is just Evil and not a Genius.
Reply:When Bush became president this country was in a recession. Why do people forget this fact??????
We pulled out of the recession, despite 911, and managed to have an incredibly strong economy including very low unemployment, record highs in the stock market and increased revenue.
Now, since we cant maintain record highs and since private companies and individuals created this sub prime housing mess (which has NOTHING to do with the president) the economy is on a downturn. Every economy has to go down if its been going up up up. We arent in a recession. We arent even close to an economic collapse.
Stop spinning the facts to paint a false picture.
